Assignment #5

Dream Computer
If I had an opportunity to consider what kind of computer I would like for my classroom, I would choose the iMac. A Mac is built for the way people use computers today, so I believe this would be a great computer to consider. Microsoft Office and thousands of other applications can be used on these computers whether they are made for Windows or Mac. Students can use the software to do things, such as presentations and papers.  Documents, photos and music files can be opened on Macs. An advantage of using a Mac is that they never get viruses.
The Magic Trackpad is designed to work with Mac desktop computers. This trackpad provides a whole new way to control and interact with what is on your screen. They are used in place of a mouse or in conjunction with one. Students would be able to swipe though pages online just as they would flip through pages of a magazine or book. These also make scrolling up and down more natural. Magic Trackpad connects to your Mac though Bluetooth wireless technology.
Another device I would choose is a projector. Some features that may enhance teaching include quick start features and internal digital zoom and focus. Quick start features ensure that presentations move quickly between slides. Internal digital zoom and focus reduce the need to stop the presentation and manually bring the picture into focus. Projectors include video inputs that allow you to network you projector to DVD players and VCRs. By using digital video projectors students can view streaming videos from the Internet and teach with different programs.
